Microsoft IT Service Management Division (SMD) is looking to hire the Director for Change and Release management services. Microsoft IT has one of the largest IT infrastructure setups on the planet and is looking for a senior professional to run the 24x7 IT change and release management services from its facility in Hyderabad. The role includes managing the Microsoft change, release and asset management services for IT infrastructure and applications. The role will have specialist knowledge of and be an expert in the ITIL/MOF Service Management disciplines of Change and Release Management.



The Leader would also be expected to transition and build end-to-end change and release management service ownership in India for the various infrastructure and application services consumed within Microsoft. The overall goal being to minimize the impact of Change related Incidents upon SMD service quality and consequently to improve the day-to-day operations of the Trust



Essential Duties and Responsibilities





1 Lead responsible for Release Management, Change Management, & Process Improvement in managing





the IT infrastructure and applications in both production and non-production environments. Generate, maintain, and distribute change control documents, metrics, and reports on a regular basis and review with key stake holders



2 Ensures that standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all



Changes in a controlled IT infrastructure and application systems in order to minimize the impact of change related incidents upon service in the production, test and non-production environments





3 Track, monitor and facilitate scheduling of patches, upgrades, custom components and integrations, across all relevant development, test, and production instances.





4 Coordinate, monitor, and automate deployment tasks to achieve a streamlined deployment cycle.







5 Consult on Release and Change Management procedures with Implementation Manager, Project Managers and Technical Leads







6 Formulate long term strategic Service Improvement Plans (SIPs) for the areas of Change and Release Management, developing business cases where necessary to improve services, reduce costs, ensure business continuity etc.







7 Provides technical guidance and training to "information owners" and infrastructure and application support organizations responsible for managing the applications and infrastructure operations.



8 Manages external service provider(s) delivering change and release management related services to company.





9 Oversees the implementation of upgrades, repairs, modifications, and replacements of, change, release and asset management related devices, software, and services



10 Participate in post implementation reviews and audits on selected change records





11 Ensure resource requirements are clear and work with Resource Managers to secure resources according to service level







12 Work towards establishing release processes and overall good release management for applications and processes not previously under strict release management.

Ideal candidates will have a strong balance of technical and strategic skills, a proven history of working well across large scale, globally dispersed groups, a strong track record in global change and release management service across infrastructure and applications with deep technical and business skills. Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership, driving long-range thinking about business and operations strategy and inspiring others to work towards that vision is a must.





1 College degree in Business, Technology (BA or BS preferred), Computer Science or related discipline - equivalent experience acceptable.



2. Ten years IT experience with a minimum five years change and release management experience.







3. Proven ability to lead, coach and provide leadership to staff, including development of goals, objectives and performance success criteria.







4. Solid knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley compliance, corporate security and network policies and procedures.







5. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis in translating technical content for a non-technical management / executive audience.



6. Experience in working with internal / external auditors and senior IT leadership.



7. Proven ability to work under stress in emergencies; flexibility to handle pressure of multiple high priority initiatives and issues.

Key Shortlisting Criteria :

1. 12+ yrs experience . Should currently  be at  a Manager / Sr  Manager / Delivery manager role

2. Experience managing complex projects / cross -geographic teams

3. Prior development  background in Asp.net / C#/ SQL (Microsoft  Tech base)

4. Should be in touch with Technology ( need not do  hands on coding) ...but should not be averse to  it incase a need arises  .

5. Should have managed teams of 50+

6.As  mentioned in Point 4 the candidate need to have a Tech Orientation as Interviews tend to  be Technical ....so  If you are  not in touch with core development ur chances of clearing the interview is slim

7. Point 3  of having  development  experience (predominant) in Asp.net / C#/ Sql is also  very  important
