Microsoft Business Solution often called MBS-IT is a division within ExD (Enterprise Experience Division) that develops mission critical enterprise applications that support Microsoft Business worldwide.
MBS-IT is spread across three geographical locations viz. Fargo, Hyderabad, Vedbaek.

Core Elements of the Job
Product Unit Manager with MBS is a multi-disciplinary, manager of manager (M2) role encompassing both the aspects of program delivery and people management in a highly matrix organization. This position is responsible for providing overall leadership to the team, setting direction for the team, ensuring all commitments are met and developing strong partnership with other groups, globally.
This person will lead a team, comprising of both managers (M1) and individual contributors (ICs), from various disciplines like Dev, Test, PM etc. Building alliance with teams present in other part of the globe will be key. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· People Management: Hiring right talent. Ensuring that people rhythm-of-business activities are completed on time and with a diligence that inspires the team to go an extra mile, stay motivated and deliver programs. Some of these activities are: Career Development Plans, Resource Planning, Training Plans, Performance Reviews, Rewards.
· Program Delivery: Ensuring that all programs are delivered with agreed upon business value, on time and highest quality.
· Business Management: Ensuring that financial targets of the group are met, variances are minimized and reasons for variances are known; business reviews are conducted as per rhythm-of-business.
· ERP Knowledge & Implementations: Understanding the ERP implementation methodologies, thriving for business process improvement and god understanding the country specific localizations in any ERP (SAP, Oracle, Axapta).
· Technology Management: Enabling the team to innovate and create strong partnership with other groups;
· Risk Management: Ability to manage risks related to people, technology and processes.
Job Location
This position is based in Hyderabad, India and will report solid line to the Engineering Division leader in Hyderabad and dotted line to PUM in Redmond. The job requires minimal travel, primarily to participate in planning and review discussions with team(s) in USA.
Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidates will have a strong balance of technical and strategic skills, a proven history of working well across large scale, globally dispersed groups, a strong track record in global delivery and management of services across applications with deep technical and business skills. Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership, driving long-range thinking about business and operations strategy and inspiring others to work towards that vision is a must.
· College degree in Business, Technology (BA or BS preferred), Computer Science or related discipline - equivalent experience acceptable.
· Twelve (12) years of IT Program management experience effectively delivering and implementation of mission critical business applications /Solutions
· Proven ability to lead, coach and provide leadership to staff, including development of goals, objectives and performance success criteria.
· Proven ability in managing and integrating all core functions (e.g. Development, Testing, Program Management, Support) of an engineering team Proven ability in leading any ERP teams such as SAP/Oracle/Axapta & understand the ERP Implementation methodologies. SAP /or any ERP knowledge is preferable.
· Demonstrated ability of seeing forest for trees, strategic thinking
· Self-starter, who can deal with ambiguity, maintains focus, drives to clarity and provides innovative solutions.
· Demonstrated ability to collaborate and deliver results in a matrix organization
· Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis in translating technical content for a non-technical management / executive audience.
· Experience in working with internal / external auditors and senior IT leadership.
· Proven ability to work under stress in emergencies; flexibility to handle pressure of multiple high priority initiatives and issues.
· Should be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Expertise in various software Development methodologies like SCRUM, TSP/PSP
· Experience in dealing with sub-contractors/vendor management is desirable.
· Experience in managing budgets & Financial business excellence
